Issue : Games : Viridity

Doom Eternal is a game about pandemonium.

I don't even remember what number end times event this is for me. I seem to always be in the wrong place at the right time for these sorts of things. Where was I during the 1989 Bay Area quake? Headed off to watch game three of the most lit world series ever. Like a dumbass.

9/11? I just signed up for the military. The San Diego Cedar Fires? Commuting two hours to work from Del Mar to hilltop Lemon Grove. The Popeyes Chicken sammich shortage of 2019? Well, that one was my fault, I was hungry. Anyway, the only tie that binds these crises is that people get exponentially dumber en masse. Like diamonds that get harder under pressure, people's reasoning gets harder to figure out.

And I'm not counting the sophies choice people, they are the ones that have been living hand to mouth, have no savings, and have to make the hard choice of risking their life or watching their family starve to death because they understand that even though they did everything right, no one is coming to the aid of Gondor when that horn blows.

I don't believe in an apocalypse, but I do believe four horseman chill in a logical order. It would be dope if they were metaphysical horsemen with brand names, clear intentions, weak spots, and drop orange gear on defeat, but from what I've experienced they are just clusters of scared people making bad decisions. Anti-climatic.

There is the "Me First and the Gimee Gimmes." They hoard, loot, and become totally possessed by self-interest. when asked, they will tell a story about how the situation requires pragmatism, but in reality, they were always kinda selfish. There are the "Ultralight Beams," they believe something is responsible for all of it. Then there are the "Mountain Goats." They believe someone is responsible for all of it. Believing in something, or someone's, responsibility seems similar, but there is a world of difference.

Then there are the "Daylighters." The folks that have been laboring so long, have spent so many days in debt, sacrificed, failed, and lost so much that if you sat them down and told them that the world would shut down and things would get very difficult for a very long time, they would legit laugh in your face and ask if they could get back to the thing they were using to escape the reality they were already in that you were telling them was coming.

Anyway, there are so many fun games coming out in the next few months. Doom is one of them, I can't wait to play them all. Shouts to information, stay safe. Rip TB rip TC rip Tall-T. Love is wise, hatred is foolish. Get out there and do great things, we believe in you. Also Jobs.
